Claire Elise Boucher (/bu:'SeI/ boo-SHAY;[1] born March 17 the 17th of March, 1988) is professionally known as Grimes is a Canadian artist, singer, and record producer. There are many styles of her earlier music is described as "lo fi R&B" as well as "futuristic dance-pop". She has also incorporated elements from hip hop electronic, and rock. Her lyrics often focus on sci-fi themes and feminist topics. There have been five albums. Grimes was raised in Vancouver, and then moved to Montreal around 2000. Grimes started releasing her music as a solo act in the early 2000s. The albums released were through Arbutus Records in 2010, Geidi Primes as well as Halfaxa in the year 2010. She subsequently joined 4AD and rose to prominence after the release of her third album, Visions In 2012. Visions includes the singles "Genesis," and "Oblivion" and was nominated for the Juno Award of the Canadian Music Industry for Electronic Album of the Years. [5] Following this, her fourth studio album, Art Angels, was launched in 2015 and earned critical praise as several publications have rated it as the best album of 2015. Miss Anthropocene was her fifth studio album. Grimes, who is also an actor and judge on Alter Ego's musical competitions performed as vocalist on the album Cyberpunk 2077 which was released in 2020.
