Her character as Ashley Banks in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is her most well-known. She began singing at age 4. Her mother urged her to go to audition for Sesame Street. In 1985, when she was 6-year-old, she began her acting career as a regular actor on the PBS children's educational program Sesame Street. She continued to pursue her acting career in New York City with many shows such as Fences which is a Broadway production, as well as Orfeo del Campo that was an off-Broadway production. She was just seven when she won Star Search. She received an overall score of 4 stars after returning for another time.
